Pastors & Staff

Rob Anderssen

Pastor of Preaching and Teaching

Rob began serving EBBC in 2020 after serving churches in Smithville, TX and Apalachin, NY. He married his High School Sweetheart, Sheila, in 1990, and together they have 3 amazing children - Alyssa, Gabriel, and Xian. Jesus gloriously saved Rob in 1990 and he has been serving Him faithfully since. Rob loves nothing more than to share life with Sheila: attending music concerts, Broadway musicals, traveling, dining out, hiking, SUP'ing, kayaking, biking, or just chilling on the deck with their dogs Rufus and Luna.

David Baalbergen

Pastor of Families and Discipleship

As a new resident to Chattanooga, David is excited to work with EBBC and its members as the Pastor of Families and Discipleship. David and his wife Bethany met in church when they were both students in youth ministry. They attended the same college and after marrying in 2017 they moved from Georgia to North Carolina to attend Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. David and Bethany received Master's in Church Revitalization and Biblical Counseling, respectively. David has developed a love to watch churches grow in theology and discipleship through his many years interning and staffing at churches in Georgia. And with the addition of two sons into his life, David is also passionate about generating a culture of family discipleship in parents. He and his wife love The Office, baking, board games, and hanging out together.

Jared Hawkins

Worship Leader

Jared has lived in the Chattanooga area much of his life.  He decided to follow Christ at the age of 11 at a Rick Gage crusade at Soddy Daisy High School.  Jared spent much of his mid-teens to early twenties playing and singing in a praise and worship band helping to lead youth worship at Hixson First Baptist, where he grew up.  As an older teen, Jared spent time doing short term domestic and foreign missions.  Jared knew he was being called to serve God but was not sure where.  Finally in 2004, by what seemed serendipity, God brought Jared to East Brainerd Baptist Church to be their worship leader.  It is here that Jared met his wife Summer.  They have been married since 2008 and have two beautifully rambunctious boys you can find somewhere in the church any given Sunday.  Just let Jared or Summer know where they are.

Odell Frye

Deacon

Odell has been married to Kathy Lehman Frye since 1979.  Together they have two adult children, Drew and Courtney.
Odell grew up attending First Baptist Chruch, Bemis, Tennessee, a Southern Baptist Church, and was saved during revival services while in middle-school.   He developed life-long friendships with participants in the youth group there.  He was a member of First Baptist Bemis until he moved to Chattanooga after attending college at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  Odell retired from TVA after 40 years of service and is currently self-employed.
Kathy grew up in the Chattanooga area, attended Central High School, and is a dental hygienist in East Ridge.    She currently leads East Brainerd’s Children’s Church that meets during our adult services.
Kathy and Odell have both been active at East Brainerd in Children’s programs, Vacation Bible School, Youth Group and in the Choir.  They both enjoy traveling, UT football, and spending time with friends and family.

Max Pierce

Deacon

Max Has lived in the Chattanooga and North Georgia area his entire life.  He grew up in East Ridge and graduated from East Ridge High School.  His family were active members at Kingwood Baptist Church.  It was at Kingwood that his Sunday School teacher, Richard Durham, introduced him to Jesus.  He  accepted Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at 9 years of age.
Pam grew up in North Georgia and graduated from Lakeview High School. But many years prior to that she had a babysitter who she called Nana, and it was Nana and her son and daughter-in-law who led Pam to Christ at the age of 7. She was later baptized at Lookout Valley Baptist Church.
After graduation from high school. Both Max and Pam attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  It was here that they met. After graduation from UTC, Pam and Max were married, on the brow of Lookout Mountain in 1977.  Their family includes two daughters, Summer and Amanda, a son-in-law, Jared Hawkins, and two grandsons, Ethan and Ronan.
