Mark 6:1-6

Apr 26, 2026    David Baalbergen

In “The True Jesus,” we walk through Mark 6:1–6 and the sobering reality that it is often easier to reject the Jesus we think we know than to surrender to the Jesus who truly is.

Nazareth thought they knew Jesus—just the carpenter, just Mary’s son, just a familiar face from down the road. But familiarity blinded them to His glory. They rejected the Savior standing right in front of them because accepting Him meant facing the truth about themselves.

We still do the same today. We create a safe, comfortable version of Jesus—one who never confronts our sin and never calls us to repentance. But the real Jesus is far better. He is the humble Savior who came near, took our sin, bore God’s wrath in our place, and rose again to give life to all who believe.

My prayer is that this sermon helps you look past the Jesus culture creates and see the true Christ of Scripture.

We’d love for you to join us this Sunday at East Brainerd Baptist Church, 1047 Graysville Rd, Chattanooga, TN. Worship begins at 11:00 AM.
