The Storm Didn't Scare Him. Should That Scare You? | Mark 4:35–41

A sudden storm. A sinking boat. Twelve terrified disciples. And Jesus — fast asleep in the stern.

In this sermon from Mark 4:35–41, we sit with one of the most disorienting moments in all of Scripture: the disciples watching chaos pour over the sides of their boat while the Son of God sleeps through it. Their question cuts right to the heart — "Teacher, don't you care that we're going to die?"

Maybe you've asked that same question. Maybe you're asking it right now.

This passage doesn't offer us a storm-free life. It offers us something far better — a Savior who rules the storm, who speaks and the sea obeys, and who remains unshaken even when everything around us isn't.

We'll look at what Jesus' sleep reveals about God's sovereignty, why the disciples' fear drew a hard rebuke, what it means that the calm was just as mega as the storm, and how this moment on the Sea of Galilee points to the cross — where Christ muzzled the far greater storm of God's wrath forever.

Main Idea: Even in our fear and unbelief, Jesus remains our Creator, our God, and our Savior.
