Mark 3:22-30
What do you do when the truth is standing right in front of you—and you still don’t want it?
In Mark 3:22–30, the religious elites finally arrive from Jerusalem. They see undeniable power. They witness real freedom. And instead of repenting, they accuse Jesus of being empowered by Satan himself. What follows is one of the clearest, boldest moments in the Gospel of Mark.
In this sermon, Pastor David Baalbergen walks us through Jesus’ calm but crushing response:
A разобering look at religious pride and self-righteous rejection
Jesus dismantling the lie that Satan could cast out Satan
A powerful picture of Christ as the true Strong Man who binds the enemy
A clear and hopeful explanation of the so-called “unforgivable sin”
This passage isn’t meant to terrify tender consciences—it’s meant to warn the proud and comfort the humble. Jesus makes it plain: all sins can be forgiven, but continually rejecting the work of the Holy Spirit leaves a person with nothing left to receive forgiveness from.
And then comes the good news.
Satan is not winning.
The Strong Man has been bound.
The kingdom of God has arrived.
Because of the cross, Christ has crushed the enemy, and now He sends His people out—not afraid, not timid, but confident—to plunder the house of Satan by proclaiming the gospel and seeing lives set free.
This is a call to courage.
A call to faithfulness.
A call to step into your neighborhood knowing Christ reigns.
